GREEN BUILDING
A green building is one which uses less water, optimizes energy efficiency, conserves natural resources, generates less waste and provides healthier spaces for occupants, as compared to a conventional building. The idea of green buildings is to embrace an Eco-friendly style of living. Designed for natural light, the green buildings promise to save up to 35 per cent of energy consumption and 30 per cent on water consumption. The entire raw material used to make a green building comes from recycling matter. The walls are insulated to reduce the flow of heat from outside. At GPS, ACC Blocks have gone into the construction of the building. This would render the temperature of the building 3-5 °C lower than the natural outside temperature during the scorching summer heat but would not at all affect or lower the warmth and coziness produced inside the classrooms during the winter season.

As per INDIAN GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL (IGBC), the advantages of a Green Building can be depicted as under:

SUN-LIT CLASSROOMS
There is a facility of Sun-Lit Classrooms at GPS ensuring that no glare or unnecessary reflection takes place on the boards installed in the classrooms. Provision of sunlight ensures natural and good visibility during class hours thereby eliminating chances of eye-strain.

SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT (STP)
In keeping with the increasing Global Environmental Awareness Concern, GPS has also ensured the provision of Sewage Treatment Plant. Sewage treatment is the process of removing contaminants from waste water. It includes physical, chemical, and biological processes to remove these contaminants and produce environmentally safe treated wastewater.
